Liz counsels companies and their leadership teams on the legal and strategic issues that shape ownership, operations, and long-term direction. Her work emphasizes clear thinking, proportional risk assessment, and durable outcomes.
Liz began her legal career at a leading international law firm, where she trained in complex transactions and developed a rigorous foundation in high-stakes legal work. After relocating to Denver, she continued her practice at a top regional firm, advising clients at the highest level while deepening her understanding of how sophisticated legal strategy applies outside traditional Big Law environments.
Drawing on that experience, she founded the Orbital Law Group with the goal of bringing large-firm expertise to startups and small businesses. Her focus has been on serving as a trusted advisor on transactions that materially shape a company’s trajectory, ensuring that early-stage and growing companies have access to the same caliber of legal counsel typically reserved for much larger organizations. She later founded the Independent Law Group to bring together solo and small-firm practitioners with Big Law backgrounds, enabling collaboration across disciplines such as tax, intellectual property, real estate, privacy and data security, employment, and litigation.
In 2016, she stepped fully into the founder role herself, launching an on-demand technology platform in the childcare space. From 2019 through 2022, she paused her legal practice to build the company, participating in leading startup accelerators, raising more than $2 million in funding primarily through crowdfunding, and navigating the full spectrum of challenges faced by early-stage founders. During that period, she gained firsthand experience with fundraising, investor communications, product development setbacks, team disruptions, and the operational realities that legal advice is ultimately meant to support.
After selling the company in 2022, she returned to legal practice with a new perspective—combining years of sophisticated transactional training with lived experience as a founder. Today, she works with clients to solve complex business problems pragmatically, focusing on outcomes that allow transactions to close efficiently while preserving long-term relationships. Her approach emphasizes clear thinking, proportional risk assessment, and solutions that leave all parties confident they have reached a fair and durable result.
At its core, her practice is grounded in helping clients move forward intelligently, decisively, and with confidence—using the law not as an obstacle, but as a means of building sustainable businesses.
